目前已經可確認Google Glass採用Android作業系統為基礎，同時日前也開放核心原始碼內容讓開發者使用。而從近期所釋出一張影像內容顯示，或許透露Twitter正著手研發可讓Google Glass使用的App，方便使用者直接透過眼鏡即可分享內容。

根據TechCrunch網站報導指出，雖然先前已經有第三方開發團隊表示著手設計「GlassTweet」App，可讓使用者透過Google Glass傳送訊息至Twitter進行發佈，但就近期更新消息來看，顯示Twitter也已經開始測試官方版本的「Twitter for Glass」。

不過，TechCrunch網站向Twitter求證之餘，並未獲得任何具體回應，但可以預想未來或許在Google Glass (或類似產品)普遍發展時，與Twitter相似的App應用將會大量竄出，屆時或許就連Facebook、Foursquare等社群應用App也都會大量推出。

目前Google Glass僅針對開發者釋出Google Glass Explorer開發版本，而根據Google執行董事長Eric Schmidt日前接受訪問時透露，市售版Google Glass目前預計在2014年間正式推出。
