《美聯社》搶先引用未具名消息來源，宣布熱火「小皇帝」詹姆斯當選本季年度MVP，這是他生涯第4次，史上第5人拿下4次以上年度MVP，前4人分別是6次的賈霸、5次的喬丹和羅素，以及4次的張伯倫。
