水流實在太強，救難人員就算綁著繩索，還是被沖走，得用游的，才能慢慢接近受困在沙洲上的林姓男子，但要將他救上岸，過程非常驚險，一名救難人員先牽著他往岸邊移動，但水是湍急，兩人綁著繩子，還是差點滅頂。

救難人員：「可以站起來了，放鬆放鬆，慢慢放。」

林姓男子被救上岸，但跟他一起來釣魚的68歲退休老師王豐川，卻還下落不明。釣客林姓男子：「現在沒看到人，他在那邊釣，我在那邊釣。」

林姓男子說，27日清晨，他和王豐川兩個人一起到南投埔里南港溪釣魚，沒想到清晨8點多，山區下雨，溪水暴漲，兩個人都受困，一個站在山壁，一個站在沙洲上，卻不敢打電話向119求救，拖到下午4點多朋友才打電話報警。

溪水湍急，搜救人員只能不斷潛入南港溪，沿著溪流尋找另一名釣客蹤影，但週六晚間出動埔里國姓和雙冬消防分隊警義消，還是沒找到這名失蹤釣客。
