美國學者卡爾普勒斯、勒維特和瓦榭爾在1970年代發展出「複雜化學系統多階度模型」，9日同獲諾貝爾化學獎。

過去化學家用塑膠球和棍子製作分子模型，現在用電腦。此三人為用於了解和預測化學過程的功能強大電腦程式打下基礎。反映真實生活的電腦模型對當今化學研究不可缺。

卡爾普勒斯在奧地利出生，勒維特在南非出生、瓦榭爾在以色列出生，三人現今都在美國任教。（諾貝爾官網）

【中央社／斯德哥爾摩9日綜合外電報導】 諾貝爾化學獎得主今天揭曉，由三位都擁有美國籍的分子化學家共獲殊榮，評審委員會表示，他們得獎理由是研究出電腦模擬方法，用來了解與預測化學反應過程。

這三位得獎人是擁有美國與奧地利雙重國籍的卡普拉斯（Martin Karplus）、擁有美國和英國國籍的李維特（Michael Levitt）以及有美國與以色列國籍的瓦歇爾（Arieh Warshel）。

評審委員會說，他們是因「為複雜化學系統發展了多尺度模型」而獲獎。

委員會又說：「反映真實生活的電腦模型，對今日在化學上獲得的大部分進展相當重要。」
