前監察院長王作榮今晨逝世，總統府發言人李佳霏轉述，馬英九總統表示，「王前院長的逝世是國家重大損失」，深感不捨與遺憾，已指示政府相關單位全力協助家屬處理後事。

李佳霏轉述，馬總統表示，王作榮歷任大學教授、政府財經幕僚、考試委員、考選部長暨監察院長，為國戮力從公、盡心盡力；民國六十年代國家遭逢巨變時，秉持經濟專業及對社會的使命感，在媒體針砭時事、提出國是建言，替台灣經濟把脈；此外，他執教台大經濟系多年，桃李滿天下，對國家社會政治、經濟、教育等領域貢獻卓著。
